By collecting and recycling used crayons, we create vibrant tools of hope for underprivileged children in Nicaragua. These crayons become more than art supplies—they become symbols of creativity, opportunity, and empowerment for kids who lack basic resources. Our mission goes beyond reducing waste; we strive to inspire a brighter future for the next generation. Empowering Children Through Creativity, One Crayon at a Time
Crayones con Causa is dedicated to bringing joy and emotional healing to children in underprivileged communities by providing them with recycled crayons. Our mission is to empower children through creativity, giving them the tools to express their emotions and navigate challenges, no matter their economic situation. By collecting used crayons and transforming them into new ones, we offer children a small but meaningful way to explore their imagination and find joy in difficult circumstances.
Our vision is to brighten lives with recycled crayons, transforming what would be discarded into symbols of hope. We believe that creative expression can be a powerful tool for emotional growth, especially in communities with limited access to mental health resources.
Our Process
Collect
We gather old and broken crayons from schools, homes, and donations. These crayons are then sorted by color and prepared for recycling.
Break
The collected crayons are broken down into smaller pieces, making them easier to melt and ensuring even color distribution in the new crayons.
Melt
The crayon pieces are melted down into liquid form, ready to be poured into molds. This step transforms the old crayons into a reusable material.
Create
The melted crayon wax is poured into new molds, where it hardens into vibrant, new crayons that are ready to bring joy to children once again.

Hey, I'm Veronica!
As the founder of Crayones con Causa, I believe that every child deserves the chance to experience the joy of creativity, no matter their circumstances. Growing up in Nicaragua, I saw firsthand how something as simple as a crayon could light up a child’s world, offering a moment of joy and self-expression in even the toughest situations. This project was born from a desire to transform discarded crayons into something more — a symbol of hope and a tool for emotional healing.
It has been incredibly rewarding to see how these small, colorful creations can make such a big impact on the lives of children who face daily challenges. For me, this project is a reminder that even the simplest acts of kindness and creativity can change the world, one crayon at a time. I am grateful to everyone who has supported Crayones con Causa and helped bring color and imagination into the hands of children who need it most.
